Dr Tim Carey

Tim Carey Ph.D

Clinical Director

Dr. Carey is the founding member of the company. He is focused on managing the clinical operations of the organization, as well as delivering career counseling services to teenagers and tertiary-level students who are considering various directions for their future.

With an emphasis on education, Dr. Carey explores with the student various options based on their likes, dislikes and life goals.

Far from prescribing a path for the student, Dr. Carey uses questioning techniques based on counseling theory and many years’ experience in assessment and coaching of professionals from a variety of industries, to work with the student to uncover their own path forward.

An Industrial/Organizational Psychologist by training, Tim also taught that subject for 14 years in the Psychology Department at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, to both graduates and undergraduates. An expert in the selection and development of managers, in 2010 he published a chapter on selecting in a global context based on his work in different regions. Tim also is a skilled facilitator and coach and provides services in both areas across Asia Pacific.

While teaching at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Tim also counseled hundreds of students around career options and opportunities. Characterized by “out of the box” thinking, Tim tries to consider the skills offered by the student rather than a narrow reading of the student’s area of study. Providing insights and opening the minds of the students have been the hallmarks of his approach.

For the past 20 years Tim also has delivered assessment and talent development services to MNCs across Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Over that time he has interviewed, assessed and coached thousands of executives and senior managers in dozens of Global Fortune 500, multinational companies, including Coca-Cola, Walmart, Credit Suisse, Dell, Roche, Societe Generale, Shell, HP, The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, EADS and Colgate-Palmolive.

Tim is very familiar with Asia, having lived in Hong Kong since 2001 (with a one-year stint in Shanghai) and having obtained permanent residency there. Tim graduated from the University of South Florida in the United States, with an M.A. and Ph.D. degree in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology.
